There’s something undeniably magical about a beach wedding in Brazil. The sun-kissed shores, the rhythmic lull of the waves, and the effortless blend of nature and elegance make for an unforgettable celebration. For Gabi and Gabriel—a Brazilian couple deeply connected to their roots—there was no better place to exchange vows than Búzios, the picturesque seaside town known for its stunning coastline and relaxed sophistication.

Designing Invitations as a Prelude to Paradise

As a designer, I had the joy of creating wedding invitations that embodied the couple’s vision: a celebration infused with natural beauty, tradition, and tropical elegance. Every detail was carefully considered to reflect their love story and the enchanting venue where they would say “I do.”

At the heart of the invitation suite was a custom watercolor painting of the venue, a breathtaking tribute crafted by the bride’s mother. This personal touch made the invitations not just a means of communication, but a cherished keepsake. To enhance this intimate detail, I incorporated a refined, letterpressed monogram of their initials—both Gs—intertwined in a timeless design, symbolizing their unity and the elegance of their wedding aesthetic.

One of the most striking elements of the suite was the bespoke pattern I designed, inspired by traditional Portuguese and Brazilian tiles. This intricate motif wove together elements of the couple’s cultural heritage with the vibrancy of their tropical setting. It was used throughout the invitation suite—on envelopes, liners, and RSVP cards—creating a cohesive and immersive experience for guests from the moment they opened their invitations.

A Design That Extended to the Celebration

The impact of this design didn’t stop at the invitations. The couple loved the tile-inspired pattern so much that they incorporated it into the wedding itself, most notably on the dance floor. Seeing my design transformed from paper to a large-scale, immersive experience was incredibly rewarding. The pattern became a focal point of the reception, tying together tradition, art, and celebration in a way that felt deeply personal to Gabi and Gabriel.

Beyond the dance floor, the design language carried through other wedding elements—menus, place cards, and signage—ensuring a seamless and beautifully branded experience throughout the event. The cohesive aesthetic reinforced the couple’s vision of a wedding that was elegant, meaningful, and uniquely theirs.

We honestly couldn’t be happier with our stunning wedding invitations! Raquel did an incredible job designing something that truly felt unique and custom-made to us, beautifully inspired by the natural charm of our ocean-view venue in Brazil.
